Enticing male-female harmony vocals featuring Jefferson Hamer, acoustic guitar, dobro solo, strings section with violin and viola parts, electric bass, shaker and tambourine; steady-paced romantic ballad that you can dance to - a conversation between adults who were lovers in their youth, equal parts anticipation, humor and sentimentality. Co-written by Jefferson and Lucia while in the studio, the song wasn’t meant to be soppy romantic but it’s brought many a tear to the eye of the mature listener. Maybe that’s a signature trait of Comnes and Hamer singing a duet in harmony? The song is about coming to terms with mid-life, past relationships and feelings that arise when we reconnect with someone we used to know that are completely unexpected and exciting, as inconvenient as they might be at times. Sound like a good song for your favorite Netflix series?
lyrics
Have We Met Before?
Have we met before, have we met before
Have we met before, have we met before
It’s been so long now, well I’m not so sure
Such a long time ago, since I loved you so
Who I was back then, well I barely even know
Well you’re looking good and I’m not surprised
You always had that light shining in your eyes
With your flowery dress and your hair a mess
It’s so hard not to tell you, I always loved you best
I’m waiting, I’ve been waiting so long
And I’m not sure if I know you anymore
Have we met before?
So you’re married now, well I’m glad you found
Someone to keep your house when you’re out of town
Is she sweet and kind, does he ease your mind
Are you better off now than back when you were mine?
I’m waiting, I’ve been waiting so long
And I’m not sure if I know you anymore
I’m waiting, I’ve been waiting so long
And I’m not sure that I don’t love you anymore
Have we met before, have we met before
It’s been so long now, well I’m not so sure
Have we met before, have we met before
I’m not sure that I don’t love you anymore
Have we met before, have we met before
It’s been so long now, well I’m not so sure
I’m not sure that I don’t love you anymore
